An application deployed in a browser does not require installation, while one deployed with AIR requires the application be packaged, digitally signed, and installed on the user's local file system. Microsoft Silverlight Silverlight is the Microsoft equivalent of Adobe Flash player. Silverlight is an internet application. It can be installed in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome.
